ALTERNATIVE INCA TRAILS

Salcantay in 5 days / 4 nights

Day 1 : Cusco - Mollepata - Soraypampa (L, D )
We will depart from Cusco at 5.00 am to head in transportation to the town of Mollepata (2900 masl) where we will arrive approx. at 9:00 am During the trip we will have panoramic views of the Majestic " Salkantay " , one can see the chain of impressive mountains covered with snow and the valley of the Apurimac River . Then we will find our staff to organize and carry equipment on the mules to begin our hike towards Cruz Pata (3200m ) . We started walking about 3 hours through traditional Andean communities like Challacancha and where we stop for lunch approx . 12:00 pm After a short break we continued walking through the villages of Soraypampa ( 3850 m) , approx. at 5:30 p.m. and dinner our first camp.

Day 2 : Soraypampa - Chaullay or Collpapampa (B, L, D )
After a hearty breakfast, embark on the most difficult early trip hike. Departing at 7.00am tour the place called Pampa Salkantay then head to the left side of the snowy Umantay located along the snowy Salkantay , at 12.00pm will be at the highest point ( we open Salkantay - Umantay 4500 m ) . Appreciate spectacular views of the mountains and the stunning snowy Salkantay ( 6264 masl) , is known as the second highest peak in Cusco , like mountains and Huayanay Humantay . After 1 hour of rest of the day we have lunch , in the area called Huayrac Punku , then continue our walk for 3 hours towards Rayanniyoc ( 2890 m) or Chaullay ( 2920 masl) where we have the camping 2nd night .

Day 3 : Chaullay or Collpapampa - La Playa (B, L, D)
After a hearty breakfast we start our trek appreciating a variety of coca crops , considered the sacred leaf of our ancestors, which is now cultivated in tropical areas. This last section will be laying decline 5 hours to La Playa where we camp.

Day 4 : The Beach - Llactapata - Aguas Calientes (B, L, D)
Early inicaremos our trek across the river to the right bank to ascend Lucmabamba ( 2085 m.) . Through coffee plantations and tropical fruit plantations reach the archaeological site of Llactapata ( 2590 m.) . In the viewpoint can see Machu Picchu from a fantastic angle. Then go down a path of flowers and orchids to Acobamba river and crossed a metal bridge near the hydroelectric plant . Here we continue the journey to Aguas Calientes walking or taking the train that leaves at 3:30 pm (+ USD 25 per person) . On the way you can see breathtaking waterfalls which falls come from the glaciers. In the afternoon we arrived in Aguas Calientes, to rest in a comfortable hostel . They can freely choose where to dine and if they want they can go to the thermal baths ( S / . 10 per person ) .

Day 5 : Machu Picchu - Cusco ( B )
They can choose to walk up to Machu Picchu at 4.30am or take the bus to Machu Picchu at 7.00am In Machu Picchu we will have a tour of 2 hours and 30 minutes in the citadel, then have a day off to visit Huayna Picchu ( + USD 15 ) or just visit once again the citadel .

6.45 pm - 8.18 pm Train Expedition Agua Calientes - Ollantaytambo

8.30 pm - 10.30 pm Transfer from Ollantaytambo Station to Cusco and your hotel or private service Exhilaration square in Cusco (one block from the Plaza de Armas of Cusco) in shared service.

B: Breakfast , L: Lunch , D: Dinner
